The client is the founder of Lancerly, a SaaS product headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria, aimed at addressing a range of freelance needs. Lancerly integrates task management, scheduling, financial tracking, and project management into a single platform, catering to the freelance community’s unique needs for an organized and seamless work experience. However, the initial design posed challenges for users due to a convoluted interface and a lack of intuitive navigational cues. The client reached out with the goal of reimagining the platform’s design to enhance its usability and effectiveness for end-users.

User testing and feedback exposed critical usability issues. The product’s information architecture was complex, making it hard for users to understand how to navigate the platform effectively. Core features essential to task management and finance tracking were buried or difficult to find, leading to user confusion and frustration. Additionally, certain widgets were either missing or challenging to conceptualize within the platform’s framework, reducing the product’s functionality and hindering users from fully leveraging its benefits.

Our approach began with a comprehensive usability analysis. We identified the main pain points in the user journey, highlighting not only where issues occurred but why they were happening, to provide clarity and actionable solutions. Our team redesigned the user flows, making the interface more intuitive and user-centered. Real users tested the new flows, allowing us to iterate and refine the experience further. We introduced additional high-value features and optimized existing ones to increase Lancerly’s overall appeal. Our redesign also included the creation of widgets, crafted in their most user-friendly forms, which allowed users to interact with key functionalities more intuitively.

The redesigned version of Lancerly significantly boosted usability, with a 60% improvement over the initial design, based on usability tests and user feedback. The improved navigation, clearer information structure, and added features helped users engage with the platform’s tools more effectively. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome, recognizing the design’s impact on user experience and extending an invitation for us to serve as Lancerly’s permanent UX consultants, underscoring the success and value of our redesign efforts.
